Dear entrepreneur,
The SUP guideline has recently expanded and affects us all. These guidelines cover packaging materials containing single-use plastic, and customers are now required to pay for them. The difference will depend on whether customers pick up their food and drinks, have them delivered or consume them on site. Packaging materials that do not contain plastic do not have to have a contribution.
If you run a hospitality business where customers collect their food or drinks or have them delivered, you are required to charge a contribution for every single-use cup, plate or container that you serve that contains plastic. You must also offer the consumer a reusable alternative and facilitate a 'bring your own' option. Refusing self-brought crockery is only permitted if it is not optically clean.
At Horecavoordeel we understand that these changes can have an impact. Cash register systems need to be adapted, workflows need to change and employees need to be trained. We would like to offer you a solution: the Conpax plastic-free range, which does not contain (bio) plastic. This range falls outside the SUP directive and may still be given free of charge after 1 July 2023.
With Conpax's plastic-free range, Horecavoordeel offers the solution to the challenges you have been facing since the introduction of the new directive. We have several product lines that do not fall under the SUP directive. Feel free to take a look at www.conpax-products.com/plasticfree. You can order all these products via horecavoordeel.com.
With regard to the contribution you ask for one-way packaging, you can determine the amount yourself. You do not have to pay this contribution, but it is intended to make consumers aware of the use of plastic in packaging. You can calculate a deposit for reusable alternatives, for example by offering normal tableware and asking for an amount as a deposit. However, it can be a challenge for most businesses to take back, clean and reuse these reusable alternatives.
Yours sincerely,
